Fastjet hits new high with ontime departures

97 PERCENT ON TIME FLIGHT DESPATCH SIGNALS NEW HIGH FOR FASTJET

(Posted 14th February 2017)

Data just released by Fastjet, an airline operating out of Dar es Salaam and Harare, indicates that punctuality of dispatch of their flights has in January risen to 97 percent.
The low cost airline flies domestically out of Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza and Mbeya while also operating international routes to Lusaka, Harare and Johannesburg.
From the Zimbabwean capital does Fastjet operate domestic flights to Victoria Falls and offers double daily departures to Johannesburg, which will incidentally become the new head office location of the airline from April onwards.
More recently has the airline halted operations from Dar es Salaam to Entebbe and Nairobi to allow a fleet restructuring which is being undertaken in conjunction with new major shareholder, Solenta Aviation of South Africa. Solenta is now providing additional right sized jet aircraft of the Embraer E190 type to Fastjet after the low cost carrier phased out most of their Airbus A319 fleet.

So, the Mwanza to Dar flights still seem to be primarily the wet-leased plane from Bulgaria. Any news about this? How long can they afford to use the wet-leased planes while they are selling flights MWZ-DAR at $30 per segment (plus tax)?
