PATA presents the International Travel Crisis Management Summit (ITCMS) being held in London on the 10th of November 2016 (the day after World Travel Market London) at Haberdashers Hall in London. The inaugural International Travel Crisis Management Summit (ITCMS), a one day event, will bring together senior figures from the public and private sectors to share best practices and look at ways of maintaining consumer confidence.
PATA believes that, in spite of recent events around the world, travel and tourism has the ability to grow and prosper and that people will continue to want to travel. However, it is the responsibility of the industry to show that it has considered action plans in place to look after its customers, and quick response mechanisms to react in the appropriate manner during a crisis. This shows that the industry is taking a proactive role and is therefore not just responding to external events and media reporting.
No one has put it more appropriate than Dr Taleb Rifai, the Secretary General of the UNWTO, who in a recent interview said: “Point number one is, tourism and travel together has proven to be such a resilient industry that nothing is going to stop it……. I believe that travel has become a human right. People are not going to stop travelling”.
PATA’s one day event will look at the economic impact and recovery times in affected destinations, and bring together speakers from different industry sectors. It will present best-practice examples already established by leading companies and examine how other sectors have implemented effective crisis management strategies.
Confirmed speakers to date include Dr Taleb Rifai, Secretary General of the UNWTO, Mr David Scowsill, President of the WTTC, Mr Mario Hardy, President and CEO of PATA, Mr Gerald Lawless, Head of Tourism and Hospitality at Dubai Holding and Chairman of WTTC, Mr Brett Tollman, Group Chief Executive of the Travel Corporation, Mr Andy Harmer, Vice President Operations CLIA Europe, and Ms Isabel Hill, Director, National Travel and Tourism Office at US Department of Commerce.
The Summit is aimed at International corporations, travel providers, financial institutions, public relations firms, crisis management companies, insurers, assistance companies, media (social, consumer and trade), hotel development corporations, destinations, NGOs, governments, academicians, cyber security companies, loyalty companies and internet firms.
