UCOTA’s office relocated
Uganda Community Tourism Association continues to inform all stakeholders, partners and friends that the office shifted from plot 7A, Lugogo Bypass to Bukoto Plot 1732 Old Kira Road next to Ntinda Infant School and Safeway Supermarket. Registration of Community Based Tourism Enterprises (CBTEs).
UCOTA is spearheading inventory development of all community Based tourism enterprises (CBTEs) in Uganda. All managers of CBTEs that have not registered are encouraged to register their CBTEs through any of the following; (1) UCOTA websites; ucota & info, (3) Phone (direct calls/ sms) 414 501866, 0772657700, 0712500019 or physically at the office (See map). The registration information includes;
Name and type of enterprise, location, ownership (if community number of males/females), contacts, services offered and prices, number of staff, number direct and indirect beneficiaries and community development projects supported by enterprise.

Why register?

  1. To plan for better service delivery by both government and UCOTA e.g capacity building and marketing.
  2. Be part of the National CBTE inventory

The moment you approach this centre that is located in the middle of adulating hills in Nshenyi village, Ruborogota Sub county, Isingiro district, it’s easy to see the roots of a rich Ankole culture in amidst of modern and cozy environment. Here you are welcomed by beaming people giving you hugs as a Kinyankole way, as you start a memorable journey into this culture in western Uganda whose existence has been long dominated by the cow. UCOTA staff experience at exchange in Kenya

It seems like yesterday when I left for a year to Kenya on the FK staff exchange program to work with Kenya Community Based Tourism Network (KECOBAT). The exchange is managed by Freds Korpset (fk) and funded by the Norwegian government Ministry of Foreign Affairs the exchange program UCOTA has benefited from for over 4 years. The program was originally between the two countries, Kenya and Uganda and this time round, the exchange partnership has been enriched with a new partner, Tanzania Association of Cultural Tourism Organizers (TACTO), a similar organization from Tanzania.
