OPERATION PRIDE YIELDS FIRST RESULT WITH ADDITION OF CAPE TOWN SERVICE

Come July will Kenya Airways launch a three times a week service from Nairobi via Livingstone Zambia to Cape Town, connecting two of Africa’s most iconic cities.
An Embraer E190 aircraft will operate on the route every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and offer the first direct flight between Livingstone and Cape Town, while also connecting Nairobi with the continent’s southernmost city.
Kenya Airways’ Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mbuvi Ngunze said when making the announcement earlier today: ‘We are excited to add a new destination to our network. We continue to connect Africa to the world and the world to Africa. Cape Town via Livingstone will offer our guests two holiday destination on one route‘.
In March did Kenya Airways announce several flight scheduling changes that are expected to boost connectivity for passengers in Africa, through its hub in Nairobi, by at least 20%, including major changes in their daily flights to and from London, where the B787-8 used on the route is now turning around immediately instead of sitting on the tarmac all day long.
The night time re-opening of the runway at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) last month, after a prolonged period of re-surfacing the runway daily from midnight to six a.m. also allowed the airline to operate its fleet once again for more hours every day, thereby ensuring a more efficient use of its aircraft and crew.
Through this, there is room for an increase in flight frequencies to some cities in its network, especially in Africa, among them double daily services to Antananarivo / Madagascar.
‘In the last two years we have improved fleet utilization by 30% by re-looking at our schedule and enhancing it to suit our customer needs’ said Mbuvi Ngunze in closing.
More recently did the World Travel Awards hand Kenya Airways the fourth consecutive title as Africa’s leading airline in business class and the topped it by naming Kenya Airways as Africa’s leading airline during a ceremony in Zanzibar commonly referred to as the Osca’s of the Travel Industry. The two awards affirm Kenya Airways’ investment in quality inflight services and have reportedly caused a jump in demand for premium tickets. Meanwhile is the airline continuing to sell on a standby basis upgrades to business class at the airport, subject to space, allowing economy class passengers to sample their award winning service at an affordable cost.
